HearmyVoice Qualities

Why These Qualities? Why Now?

Schools are not just academic institutions they are ecosystems of human development. These eight qualities offer a structured, measurable framework for building personal resilience, emotional intelligence and moral character, all while contributing to a healthier, more connected school culture.

They are embedded across the HearmyVoice student curriculum, staff coaching tools, and leadership reports ensuring that personal growth is not left to chance, but nurtured by design.

At the heart of the HearmyVoice model are eight core qualities evidence-based personal capabilities that support both young people and adults to navigate challenge, manage emotion, and develop a strong sense of identity, purpose, and agency.

These qualities are drawn from leading research in character education (Jubilee Centre, 2017), values-based education (Hawkes, 2009), and empowerment theory (Zimmerman, 2012). They form the foundation of our diagnostic tools, coaching curriculum, and leadership frameworks bridging personal growth with cultural transformation.

These are not generic traits. They are trainable, measurable, and critical for wellbeing, inclusion and long-term success. As Witham (2019) argues, “effective leadership is not a matter of control, but of cultivating the self-regulation of others.” This belief is embedded throughout HearmyVoice: that by equipping individuals with the internal tools to self-reflect, self-regulate, and act with purpose, we build stronger people and stronger systems classroom by classroom, school by school.
